Laundry Room to Dual Function Laundry/Mud Room Remodel

The old laundry room was seriously lacking in function, space, and design. Removing an unused sink and coat closet allowed us to add a 4 foot mud bench for coats, bags, and of course putting on and removing shoes. Switching top load washer and dryer for stack-ables allowed for even more storage and a folding counter. We also recessed the washer and dryer by taking a little bit of space from the water closet behind the laundry room. This means you don’t bump into the washer and dryer when you enter the home now! Storage was added from floor to ceiling, literally! There is a drawer under the washer and dryer and both cabinets and shelving from floor to the ceiling. A small cabinet to the left of the washer and dryer was the perfect place for storing soaps, dryer sheets, and even a small vacuum! USB ports were added for a charging station above the folding counter. Even though we went with a black and white color scheme I wanted to warm it up a bit with green, gold, and natural wood tones. I opted for a matte black clothing rod instead of the standard brushed nickel to let it blend into the cabinetry. Brushed brass hardware was used throughout down to the 3 prong coat hooks. A man made Quartz was chosen for the counter to avoid staining. The ceilings are standard height and the old dropped light, despite being flush mount, made the ceilings feel even lower. We removed the old light and added LED can lights for a much brighter room and seemingly higher ceilings. The cushion on the mud bench was custom made by Foam Order. If you have an cushion needs that aren’t standard size I highly recommend Foam Order!
